Dazzling Diamonds for Mom
In 1990 our founder, Douglas Meadows, lost his mother to cancer. To commemorate her and her life, each year we sponsor a writing contest in our local elementary school. This contest allows students to honor their own mothers and to express their love and appreciation through a writing exercise. We offer this contest to students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Building a Legacy
For 17 years we have over 7,000 kids yearly write in and tell us why their mom deserves a diamond. Three students win a 1/4 carat diamond and a gemstone winner is chosen from every classroom that participates.
COVID-19 UPDATE
This year the COVID-19 outbreak culminated in the United States right at the start of this writing contest. The school systems in Georgia, as well as other states, closed and families were directed to conduct school at home. Due to this, we were only able to receive over 900 entries in the year 2020. We absolutely want to honor these participants and bless their families during this Mother's Day season.
Let's Go Virtual
This year we have chosen to award the winners virtually and to notify teachers and families as such. We hope you stay safe during this time and we look forward to welcoming you back into our store very soon.
